5 Best Things to Do With Kids in Catonsville
There’s something for kids of all ages in and near Catonsville. In fact, some of our favorite kid-friendly activities are pretty adult-friendly, too. Check out this list of the five best things to do with kids in Catonsville:
- Bounce all day at Get Air Catonsville
- Explore Patapsco Valley State Park
- Head to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum (in Baltimore)
- Have a shootout at ShadowLand Laser Adventures
- Check out the Maryland Science Center
Here’s a closer look at each.
#1. Bounce all day at Get Air Catonsville
Get Air Catonsville is an amazing trampoline park – and it’s packed with fun play structures. Choose from wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pits, ninja obstacles and more, or play dodgeball, slamball or another heart-pounding game. There’s a “kiddie court” for little ones under 46 inches tall, and at some times, the whole trampoline park is dedicated to children that size. There are also allotted times for jumpers with special needs, too, and on Friday and Saturday nights, you can go to “Club Air,” which is a dance party on the trampolines.
#2. Explore Patapsco Valley State Park
Patapsco Valley State Park extends along 32 miles of the beautiful Patapsco River, and it’s a fabulous place for outdoor recreation in any season. You can hike, fish, camp, go canoeing, ride a horse or just have a picnic. You’ll find more than 70 miles of maintained trails (and an additional 130 of unmaintained trails), playgrounds, special events designed just for kids and so much more in the park. It’s open from 9 a.m. to sunset every day.
#3. Head to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum (in Baltimore)
The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum is a great place for little ones to learn and explore. The B&O Museum has tons of hands-on experiences for children, including meet-and-greets with Choo Choo Blue and a dedicated Kids’ Zone. The Kids’ Zone has weekend story and activity times, and there’s a fun B&O Train Carousel for kids of all ages. Inside the museum, you’ll find the “oldest, most historic and most comprehensive American railroad collections in the world.”
#4. Have a shootout at ShadowLand Laser Adventures
ShadowLand Laser Adventures in nearby Columbia is the place to be for laser tag. The laser tag area spans multiple levels, and it’s all carpeted (for safety). The lights and sounds are amazing, but if you’d rather, you can play Glow Golf or visit the Mega Arcade. It’s a great place for a whole-day adventure, and there’s definitely something for kids of all ages inside.
#5. Check out the Maryland Science Center
The Maryland Science Center in Baltimore is a kid-friendly and adult-friendly place to learn about how the world really works. You can enjoy traveling and permanent exhibits, science encounters and a fabulous IMAX theater with a great mix of innovative films splashed on the five-story screen. The Maryland Science Center offers plenty of featured events each month, too, as well as a well-equipped planetarium so that kids can follow their interests all day.
